C.Ha 1
The inscription is engraved along the outer rim of a bronze phiale (a shallow votive bowl) measuring 13.4 cm in diameter and between 4.6 and 5.25 cm in height. It was purchased in 1977 in Istanbul by a collector and its attribution to the area of Halikarnassos (modern Bodrum) is based solely on the information provided by the dealer at the time of sale, who described it as coming from the “vicinity of Bodrum.” It is currently housed in the Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The text written from right to left (sinistroverse) is probably a dedicatory statement. Based on the stylistic form of the bronze vessel and the archaic paleography, it is dated to around 500 BCE.
