C.Kn 1
This extremely fragmentary inscription was discovered in 1932 by Alfred Laumonier during his travels in Caria. It was found in the region of Kindye on the road to Bodrum, where it had been built into a pile of stones from the demolition of several modern houses. The inscription is carved onto the architrave of a small funerary monument. Despite its documentation by Laumonier, the stone was never recovered and is currently considered lost. The document is bilingual, featuring the beginning of a Greek funerary distich alongside a short Carian text. Because of its brevity and fragmentary state, the meaning of the content remains unknown.
